Job Summary
The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the organization’s server and storage infrastructure, ensuring reliable operation, and assisting with routine upgrades and maintenance. This role actively performs day-to-day administration of Linux servers, monitoring system health, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues. The Administrator works collaboratively with senior staff and other IT team members to resolve technical issues and maintain overall system performance. This position participates in routine backup and recovery operations and ensures continuous compliance with organizational IT policies and security standards.
Responsibilities
Performs day-to-day administration of Linux servers, which includes applying patches, monitoring system health, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
Assists in the implementation of server upgrades and migrations while operating under the guidance of senior staff.
Maintains and updates automation scripts and tools as directed, such as Shell and Ansible.
Analyzes system logs, identifies potential issues, and monitors and tunes system performance.
Installs and configures new hardware and software, applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
Responds to technical support requests, answers technical inquiries, and resolves open issues within established service level agreements related to servers and networks.
Collaborates with team members to identify and address recurring problems, escalating complex issues to senior administrators as needed.
Ensures compliance with organizational IT policies and security standards and performs routine audits of systems and software.
Supports asset inventory management and documents the technical environment and system configurations.
Introduces and integrates new technologies into the existing Data Center environments.
Administers operating systems, maintains security, and implements backup procedures for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, desktops, printers, and storage devices.
Tracks compliance and maintains documentation for hardware, software, and service inventories for management reports.
Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

A minimum five years of systems administration experience.
Certifications:
Industry recognized professional and technical certifications.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficient managing networked servers, including knowledge of switches and firewalls, network services, system utilities, hardware installation, and operating/application system installation.
Skilled in a multi-platform network environment, client support, and backup and restore technologies.
Expertise with system administration issues in a large and complex client server environment.
Knowledge of backup technology, monitoring, and other automated systems management technologies.
Preferred Competencies
Proven ability to solve complex systems problems, work independently, and work well with others in a team environment.
Outstanding deductive and investigative skills to identify and diagnose complex, non-intuitive technical problems.
Quickly learn new procedures, techniques, and approaches.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Working Conditions
This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
