ICT HR Systems are seeking to establish a pool of Systems Officer HR for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of April, 2028. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Delivery of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) branch supports the Department’s educational outcomes by delivering innovative and reliable technology services to Western Australian public schools. The branch enables schools to remain responsive to their local communities while benefiting from a connected system, underpinned by service delivery principles of responsiveness, flexibility, transparency, accountability and collaboration.

Within this, the Integration, Build and Deployment Directorate is responsible for application security, solutions architecture, development and maintenance, testing and assurance, and data management. The HR Systems Team manages and administers the Department’s Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), which supports payroll and workforce data. The team provides system administration, maintenance, enhancements and user support, ensuring HR systems are effective, secure and aligned to business needs.

The Role

The Systems Officer role is responsible for monitoring, analysing and evaluating HRMIS system scheduling, access and utilisation to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The position undertakes research into HRMIS transactions, identifies system issues, and develops recommendations to enhance functionality and resolve operational challenges. It also contributes to system improvements through testing activities, including the development of test plans and participation in business and system testing, as well as preparing standard operating procedures and delivering presentations on established programs.

The role provides key support to management and the broader branch by contributing to communication strategies, change management initiatives, and a positive workplace culture that promotes safety, equity and diversity. The position may also represent the Directorate on committees and working groups, supporting the achievement of organisational objectives and continuous improvement across services.

A strong customer and stakeholder focus is central to this role, delivering systems administration, access control and business support services. The position responds to enquiries, provides practical solutions to complex issues, and supports system enhancements and upgrades. It also assists in the development of specialised system queries and reports, while maintaining effective working relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery and access to specialist knowledge.
