The Team:
India finance team is an exciting and challenging place that manages and / or executes the stewardship, control, reporting, tax compliance and decision support functions for the India region. The team touches almost every operational area of the organization with almost every activity translating into financial actions, implications or decision support.
A gist of various activities performed by the team:
Accounting and validations: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Revenue accounting and reconciliation, Employee compensation – payroll review, cost accruals and costs accounting, Petty Cash, Expense accounting, Employee reimbursements, Intercompany cross charge, Monthly and periodic reporting Compliances: Income Tax, including corporate tax, transfer pricing, withholding taxes; GST Compliances; RBI compliance and Compliance support to other functions such as secretarial and T&C (other payroll taxes) Decision support on various organizational options providing commercial-legal support Ensuring financial controls and risk management framework Dissemination of financial and management information Budgeting / forecasting Banking operations
Responsibilities:
The role will be participating in a combination of the following activities as assigned from time to time
Tax and Compliance
Responsible for the Company’s direct and indirect tax compliances.
Responsible for review and filing of indirect tax (GST) returns along with timely payment of indirect taxes.
Responsible for handling direct and indirect tax assessments which involves extensive interaction with consultants, reviewing submissions and own the organization's tax responses to various authorities.
Drive and optimize processes/ systems etc to improve compliance and make necessary changes so as to comply with our dynamic tax environment
Responsible for preparation of schedules and coordination with the Statutory auditors on timely closure and filing of tax audits reports, tax returns etc
Responsible for review and ensuring timely payment and filing of withholding tax returns and other associated compliances
Continuously monitor the changes in the tax laws and their implication on the Company and communicate on the changes and its implications with the management
Prepare and share amendments in tax laws, detailing instructions with regard to changes in Tax Laws specifically impacting the company business to ensure adherence
Periodically audit internal records as necessary to validate that transactions are appropriately recorded to ensure compliance, and address gaps as necessary.
Ensure processes and documentation are in place to support all tax and compliance requirements
Work closely with our consultants to ensure all the Direct, Indirect Tax, FEMA and any other compliances which are applicable to our organisation
Drive process improvements, cross functional co-ordinations and work on projects as may be assigned from time to time
Transfer Pricing
Ensure appropriate transfer pricing compliances are duly adhered to and coordinate and support consultants on transfer pricing matters
Responsible for preparing/ reviewing cross charges invoices on a monthly basis
Analyse the economics of related party transactions and if the agreed Transfer Pricing policies are appropriately applied
Identify functions and evaluate risks relevant to the intercompany transactions
Initiate and Review of benchmarking analyses conducted by external consultants
Partnering with multiple stakeholders to provide support on transfer pricing related issues
Team Management
Guide and train the finance team on various aspects of direct and indirect tax compliances
Requisites:
Functional
Experience in an MNC environment for at least 3 years in a similar role
Sound knowledge of all Direct and Indirect Tax laws in India
Total industry experience of at least 10 years
Adept to interacting with and understanding a global audience
Knowledge of Oracle R12 can be a differentiator
Logical, analytical and process oriented
Soft skills
Result Oriented – Ability to draw to conclusions, Ability to provide solutions
Organized – Planning the execution before due dates
Communications – The incumbent needs to have excellent communication skills to be able to explain aspects in a clear and timely fashion
Dynamic e.g. being constantly up to date with various amendments in tax laws
Qualifications Inter-CA with at least 12-15 years of relevant experience CA/ICWA with 7-10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in industry
