Position Information
A part-time (0.4 FTE) permanent position exists for a Teacher – Early Intervention at Punchbowl Public School. The successful applicant will work as part of an early intervention team supporting children aged 3–5 years with disability and additional learning needs in an early intervention support class and/or through itinerant support.
Early intervention in NSW public schools provides specialised, individualised programs and works collaboratively with families, early childhood services, and allied professionals to support children’s development and successful transition to school.
Punchbowl Public School serves a highly diverse and multicultural community, with 93% of students having a language background other than English and approx 22 students who are refugees. Over 30 different language backgrounds are represented in the school community. Punchbowl Public School has a K-6 enrolment of approximately 560 students, including 14 students who attend one of our two K-6 Autism Support classes. The school also has 108 Preschool students, including 28 students who attend an Early Intervention Program. Eight of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Punchbowl Public School has a strong team of professional and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff who are at various stages of their careers. Student learning is supported by a range of specialist support staff. These include English as an Additional Language or Dialect teachers, Learning and Support Teachers and Arabic Community Language teachers. The school has a strong commitment to a school-wide Instructional Leadership model, including two Assistant Principal - Curriculum and Instruction. Student wellbeing programs are supported by our Deputy Principal, Student and Community
Engagement, specialist staff and allied health professionals offering speech pathology and occupational therapy support services. Punchbowl Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) PAX Good Behaviour Game school. The school's PBL/PAX team lead the development and implementation of programs to support the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of students. The school maintains strong partnerships with parents and the community. Our School as Community Centre (SaCC) initiative, in partnership with other local service providers, facilitates community engagement through programs supporting families with young children, including many targeted parent programs, supported playgroups, early literacy activities, transition to school strategies, adult learning and health and nutrition initiatives.

Selection Criteria
Approval to teach in NSW public schools, supported by relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in early childhood and/or special education. Access to a private vehicle for work-related travel.
Demonstrated expertise in supporting children with a range of disabilities and complex learning needs, including communication, social, behavioural and sensory development. Proven ability to design and implement individualised, developmentally appropriate learning plans.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, early childhood services and external agencies. Capacity to build positive and respectful relationships that support student outcomes and foster community engagement.
Proven experience in coordinating early intervention supports in alignment with NSW Department of Education policies and procedures. Knowledge of evidence-based strategies and ability to assist schools in accessing resources and provisions to ensure smooth and effective transitions to school.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
