Qualifications
A twelve-month probationary period is required

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens
Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment
Candidates must be licensed in Special Education by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction by their appointment date
Acceptable license areas include Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD - 811), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD-830), Intellectual Disabilities (ID-810), and/or the Cross-Categorical SPED license
Your transcripts, license, certifications or other applicable credentials
Qualified veterans with a 30% or greater service-connected disability should send their cover letter, resume, DD-214, and documentation of their service-connected disability rating (dated within 12-months) to HR Specialist

The Department of Corrections, is currently looking for a talented and motivated individual to fill two full-time Special Education (SPED) Teacher positions at Columbia Correctional Institution (Portage, WI, Columbia County). Our teachers work 12 months per year.

Position Summary

This position will deliver Special Education (SPED) instruction, aids, and services to all eligible students as specified in the student's Individual Education Program (IEP). Salary Information

Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

As public safety employees, remote work is not an option for these positions.

Qualifications
