Based in Mumbai

Purpose of the Role:

To be a primary caregiver for a specific group of children, responsible for delivering exceptional care and education, and being the main point of contact for the family in order to build a close, secure attachment with the child.

 To support children’s learning and development in partnership with parents, documenting children's experiences daily, planning for their next steps and evaluating their progress.

Key Tasks:

Keep everyone safe by following BHFS policies, procedures, practices, and behaviours that promote a safety culture

Meet the individual dietary, health, comfort and care needs of each individual child

Work in partnership with parents / carers and other professionals

Have a child cantered approach, ensuring the curriculum and planning cycle meets the needs of all children and their interests.

Maintain accurate and effective children’s records and completion of progress checks

Practice positive behaviour management techniques

Support and promote diversity and equality

Work as part of a team towards a common goal, demonstrating appropriate behaviour and expectations

Demonstrate the HEART principles in everyday working life

Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things done

Attend staff meetings and training sessions including all mandatory training

Drive own development through active participation in appraisals and one to ones, requesting supervision meetings where required

Promote the centre to current parents and potential customers, taking a BOLD approach to stand out amongst competitors

Use reflection to proactively take on board new ideas and initiatives including feedback from colleagues and external professionals

Essential Qualifications

A University Degree

Paediatric First Aid qualification (Desirable)

Experience Required:

Early Years, Child Care Experience and/or other teaching qualification

Experience working with young children either in a professional home base or early years provision

A good record of on-going training

Desired Experience:

Understand child development in order to support all children including children with disabilities.

Good knowledge of the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare Requirements

Knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures

Understand the importance of and fulfil the role of a key person

Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills to support families in a highly educated workforce

Highly effective in working as a team player

Able to work in partnership with parents and other professionals

Ability to support children’s transitions

Resilience and determination to succeed in the face of pressure and difficulties.

Identify concerns and resolve complex dilemmas in a fair, open and reasoned manner

Information search skills to gather many different kinds of information by a variety of means

Communicate clearly with both children and adults using a variety of techniques.
