Are you passionate about inclusive education, early learning, and Indigenous knowledge systems? Xwemelch'stn Etsimxwawtxw Capilano Little Ones School is seeking a Teacher/Librarian to support students with diverse learning needs while fostering a love of reading, cultural identity, and lifelong learning.
This role blends teaching, literacy development, and library administration in a vibrant and culturally grounded learning environment. You'll help shape how young minds explore literature, identity, and knowledge through both Indigenous and global lenses.
What You’ll Do
Provide curriculum and learning support for students with general learning differences in collaboration with classroom teachers.
Create and implement teaching strategies tailored to the individual needs of students, with a strong focus on inclusion and cultural responsiveness.
Deliver professional reference, research, and consultation services for students and staff.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, including cataloguing, inventory, classification, and audits.
Curate and maintain a culturally relevant, diverse collection of print and digital materials.
Support the integration of Squamish Nation cultural programs, language, and teachings within library services.
Ensure library policies, safety protocols, and data management systems are upheld.
Engage with families and community partners to support student learning and wellness.
Contribute to special projects and participate as a collaborative member of the Ta7lnew̓ás Education, Employment and Training team.
What We’re Looking For
A combination of education and experience in Library Science or a related field (e.g., English, Information Management, History, or Indigenous Studies).
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Valid BC Teacher Certificate.
Experience supporting students with learning differences or diverse educational needs.
Strong knowledge of library systems, cataloguing, and information organization.
Cultural awareness and respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw values, language, and traditions.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and adaptively in a team-oriented school environment.
