Warrah is a disability services provider, based in North West Sydney. Inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Warrah has been offering quality supports and services for adults and children living with disability for over 50 years. Warrah is a vibrant community, enriching the lives of individuals through our broad range of services, which include Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Support Services (CSS) and Warrah Specialist School. We also have a certified Biodynamic Farm and Farm Shop.

Job Description
Warrah Specialist School provides quality, individualised education for children and young people with moderate to severe disabilities, from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are seeking a Teaching Assistant who aligns with our Rudolf Steiner philosophy and is committed to supporting our teachers in delivering tailored education plans to our students.

This is a part-time position (5 days per week, 6.5 hours per day, from 8:30am to 3:30pm), during school terms only.

While qualifications in educational support and experience in specialist education are desirable, they are not essential. Passion, energy and commitment to bringing Waldorf education to our students is equally important. Our school offers quality and individualised education for students with moderate to severe disabilities, from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Our innovative outdoor classroom curriculum offers educational and vocational programs, in the Steiner tradition of learning. Learning is fostered through engaging students in a range of practical tasks including woodwork, weaving, music, drama, farming, gardening and life skills programs. Our caring and supportive school is the only Steiner based Special school in Australia, offering Education with a Difference.

Warrah Specialist School is a small school set in a rural property and is part of a broader organisation – Warrah. Warrah is a not-for-profit (registered charity), community-based organisation supporting individuals with a disability in a range of services and settings. We remain committed to the Vision of our founding families and to creating and connecting to community life.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Assist in the teaching and supervision of students.
Provide one-on-one or small group support, including taking a class independently at times.
Support students with special needs through individualised sessions outside the classroom.
Ensure compliance to all Warrah Policies and Procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential and Desirable Criteria

Experience and/or training in Steiner/Curative Education or a related field (desirable).
Current Driver’s License.

A respectful approach to each student’s individuality and potential.
Ability to respect and follow through on the Principal’s and Class Teacher’s directions.
Interest in artistic and creative educational practices.

At Warrah, we offer:

Competitive Salary.
Generous not-for-profit salary packaging, including up to $15,+00 + $2,650 meal & entertainment card. Become an integral part of a dynamic and passionate not-for-profit organisation.
Enjoy a supportive and collaborative team environment.
