In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a team that supports community associations, social recreation organizations, community and civic partners in collectively enhancing the social well being of Calgarians. You will ensure public accountability for The City's investments in community partners and be responsible for the stewardship of City owned assets. You will also be responsible for governance oversight and partnership management with these community organizations. Primary duties include:
Lead and coordinate partnership management and governance strategies with numerous community associations and other community-based groups. Build and maintain effective partner relationships, manage issues, and ensure contractual obligations and accountabilities are met.
Working cross-corporately, manage the processes and policies for optimizing complex partnerships, legal agreements, leases, asset management and funding. Advise and provide direction on complex partner issues such as reputational, legal, and facility-related issues, as well as risk management.
Coordinate project plans including resource planning, budget development, implementation strategies, risk assessments, mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
Lead and collaborate on the development of strategy, business processes, policy implementation, and business planning to meet the needs of service line delivery.
Provide leadership, including team development and coaching, for a team of professional staff dealing with complex and often politically sensitive issues. Manage and direct staff to ensure Business Unit, service line, and divisional strategic plans, goals and outcomes are achieved.
Communicate with subject matter experts, leadership, and Members of Council as needed regarding community partner strategies and issues.
Qualifications
A degree in Business, Social Sciences, or a related field.
At least 8 years related experience that includes supervision, strategic planning, policy development, relationship management, issue management and working in a politically sensitive environment.
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Familiarity with trends and issues relevant to community associations would be considered an asset.
Strong leadership qualities including the proven ability to lead and mentor your team and partners through various complex problems with unclear conditions toward desired outcomes.
Excellent relationship and rapport building skills, with a proven track record for understanding and bridging complex needs to meet outcomes.
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and highly developed reasoning, problem-solving skills.
Strong political and business acumen are essential for this role.
