We primarily source from Asia while expanding our supplier network globally and distribute mainly across Canada with growing opportunities in North America.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Technical Buyer to support the continued growth of our Construction Products division.
This role combines global sourcing, supplier development, and technical understanding. The selected candidate will manage and optimize existing suppliers while identifying new sourcing opportunities and contributing to the evolution of our supply chain.
This is a hands-on role with strong exposure to international sourcing, technical products, and supplier strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Global Sourcing & Procurement
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for construction materials and technical components
Identify, evaluate, and onboard international suppliers; proactively explore new sourcing opportunities and regions.
It’s a must that you know how to source and maintain an established network of industry contacts in the Middle East, China, Africa, Europe, and other regions.
Lead RFQs, cost analysis, and supplier comparisons
Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements
Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and identify cost reduction opportunities
Supply Chain Development
Contribute to the expansion and optimization of the supplier network
Identify alternative sourcing options to improve cost, lead times, and risk
Support the development of a scalable and resilient supply chain
Technical Collaboration
Review technical drawings, specifications, and product requirements
Assess supplier capabilities and technical feasibility
Collaborate on product development and material selection
Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
Monitor supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery) and implement corrective actions
Support risk mitigation strategies (e.g., supplier diversification)
Cost & Market Analysis
Know the components and monitor raw material markets : aluminum, steel, (glass is a plus) and cost fluctuations.
Adjust sourcing and pricing strategies to support cost optimization
Profile
Experience & Skills
7+ years of experience in global sourcing or procurement of technical products
Experience in construction materials, manufacturing, or engineered products
Strong understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing processes
Proven experience negotiating with international suppliers
Strong analytical and cost analysis capabilities
Advanced Excel skills
