Multiple fixed term opportunities available until 30 June 2026.
The Technical Writer role sits in the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme which is a key unit within Te Poutahu Curriculum Centre. The Programme works in partnership with other Te Poutahu business units to enable the products and outcomes delivered from these projects to move into the business for ongoing delivery, maintenance, and support.

They will work in a writing team with subject matter experts to develop curriculum and assessment materials. The Technical Writer team is responsible for producing high-quality written products, including the refreshed curriculum and assessment materials.

Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mohou ake

We are looking for someone with experience in a complex organisation, a background in technical writing, and experience in building relationships and partnerships. Knowledge of the education sector is helpful, along with experience in working in projects and for the government.

To be successful in the role you will have the ability to understand and accurately translate technical information for a general audience, be proficient in the use of MS Office products such as Word and SharePoint, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to manage and deliver on work priorities.

You'll also offer:

Understanding of The New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, and Te Whariki
Sound knowledge of government and public sector processes
Experience in effective engagement strategies and feedback process design
The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with people both internally and outside the Ministry is essential.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Technical Writers work collaboratively within the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme to assist with the development of the refreshed National Curriculum. The wider team consists of highly experienced education professionals with a range of specialisations. The working environment is hybrid with the opportunity to work from home twice a week.

The Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme combines the programme expertise needed to manage the programmes effectively with the deep education expertise to deliver high-quality curriculum updates. This team sits within Te Poutahu | the Curriculum Centre.
