BC Place is hiring multiple people to fill a 2-month Technician, (Forklift Materials Handling) to join the Facility Operations Team in support of FIFA. The period runs from May 14 to July 15. If you are service oriented, reliable and safety-conscious with valid forklift certification this is a great opportunity to be part of the FIFA World Cup. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a team of others supporting FIFA logistics in a rotation requiring days, nights and overnights and coving seven days per week.
Please note: This position requires flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently, outdoor and indoor in varying weather conditions
Act as a service liaison between BC Place Management, FIFA and FIFA affiliates.
Load, unload, and move materials, equipment, and event infrastructure
Assist with setting up and teardown of event sites, including staging, barriers, and furniture
Perform general labour duties such as lifting, carrying, and organizing materials
Support logistics team with inventory handling and site organization
Conduct pre-operation equipment checks and reports any issues
Follow BC Place Policies and Procedures and safety guidelines.
May be required to support all aspects of building and field conversions
Work collaboratively with teammates, supervisors, FIFA and Affiliates.
Perform other related duties as required.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Valid forklift certification (required)
Previous experience in general labour, warehousing, or event logistics preferred
Ability to lift heavy objects up to 23kg (or about 51 lbs.) and perform physically demanding tasks
Strong understanding of workplace safety practices
Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment
Strong situational awareness in a busy, dynamic environment.
Good communication skills and command of the English language both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to take direction, follow instruction and work independently or with a team.
Rate of pay- $26.07
