Job Description:
The Emergency Technician will provide patient/family-centered care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The Emergency Technician will assist with medical directives and patient flow in the Emergency Department to support the inter-disciplinary emergency department team.
Duties include:
Performing ECGs
Obtaining and labeling laboratory specimens Initiating intravenous/saline locks
Preparing patients for assessment, including undressing, attaching monitor leads Assessing and documenting vital signs and weights as directed
Assisting physicians with minor procedures and casting/splints as directed Facilitating patient flow as directed
8 or 12 hour day/night shifts (7 days a week)
Qualifications:
Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma or equivalent Certified by the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists
-Previous experience and expertise as a healthcare provider in an emergency department is an asset Strong -interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
Ability to respond to physical demands (i.e. lifts and transfers) Current certification in CPR
Good organizational skills
Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
