We operate five Mitre 10 MEGA stores across Auckland, plus Columbus Coffee cafés, a Distribution Centre, and our own Frame & Truss Manufacturing Plant. This role sits right at the heart of our Trade operation, supporting the builders, contractors, and tradies who rely on us every day.
About the Store
Mitre 10 MEGA New Lynn is a busy, community-driven store serving a large trade customer base across West Auckland. Our team is practical, knowledgeable, and proud to help customers from suburbs such as New Lynn, Avondale, Blockhouse Bay, Glen Eden, Green Bay, Kelston, Titirangi, New Windsor, Henderson, Massey, Te Atatū Peninsula, Te Atatū South, Glendene, Sunnyvale, Oratia, Mount Roskill, and Mount Albert.
We’re looking for someone who knows trade, understands the pace, and enjoys leading a capable team in a hands-on environment.
About the Role
We’re searching for an experienced Trade Leader to support the day-to-day operations of our Yard, Drive Thru, Timber, and Trade Service Counters. Reporting to the Trade Manager, you’ll lead a diverse, busy team, ensure exceptional service for our trade customers, maintain stock integrity, and keep the operation running safely and efficiently.
This is a full-time, permanent on-site role (42.5 hours per week) with rostered weekend work - Tuesday to Saturday preferred.
What You’ll Do
Lead, coach, and develop your Trade team to deliver knowledgeable, friendly service
Oversee daily operations across Yard, Drive Thru, Timber, and Trade Counters
Responsible for incoming and outgoing (logistics) deliveries for trade and retail customers.
Maintain stock accuracy, product presentation, and replenishment
Coordinate staff rosters, workflow, and coverage
Support supplier relationships and complete accurate stock counts
Drive a strong health & safety culture in all trade areas
Solve issues on the spot, keeping customers and tradies moving
What You’ll Bring
3+ years of leadership experience in a trade, building, hardware, or similar environment
Strong knowledge of timber, building products, and trade customer needs
Some logistics experience (working with fleet or trucks) essential
A hands-on leadership style — you’re present, approachable, and “in the action”
Great communication skills and the confidence to coach and develop a team
Solid organisational and time-management skills
A valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence
Strong administrative capability and confidence with systems
