Job Description
Foster Garvey is seeking a Traditional Labor Attorney with 7 or more years of relevant experience to join its Labor, Employment & Immigration Group in the Firm’s Portland or Seattle office. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding Labor team at Foster Garvey. This Attorney will assist employers with collective bargaining efforts and related strategies.
This role includes representing employers at the bargaining table, responding to representation petitions, advising on labor law compliance and the administration of union contracts, and litigating grievance disputes and unfair labor practice charges when necessary. Experience leading collective bargaining negotiations, litigating representation matters, grievance arbitration, and managing labor-related compliance issues is required, along with a strong client-service orientation and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams.

Job Requirements
A successful candidate will have:
• Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical and writing skills;
• 7+ years of experience in traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining, representation petitions, agency hearings, and grievance arbitration;
• Experience with several collective bargaining negotiations as “First Chair”;
• Lead attorney experience on representation petitions;
• A partial portable book of business ($250,000 -$500,000) is preferred;
• Healthcare industry and/or public entity experience is a plus;
• A client-service approach and exceptional communication skills;
• Enthusiasm to work with and build a diverse team;
• The ability to manage significant individual responsibilities;
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school and license to practice law in Washington or Oregon.
Foster Garvey is only considering candidates currently located in or planning to relocate to Seattle or Portland. Management and leadership opportunities are available for this position.
Salary Range
The annualized salary range for this position is $200,000 - $325,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate’s experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
