Job Description
We are a growing accounting firm seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accounting Technician to support our team in providing bookkeeping, payroll, and basic accounting services to a diverse client base.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career candidate to gain hands-on experience working with multiple clients across various industries, while developing practical skills in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and taxation within a professional accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with bookkeeping for multiple client accounts (data entry, journal entries, reconciliations)
Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks
Support accounts payable and receivable for client files
Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations
Help prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for clients
Support payroll processing and related filings for client businesses
Assist in gathering and organizing information for GST/HST and tax filings
Communicate with internal team members regarding client file updates and deadlines
Ensure client records are accurate, complete, and compliant with basic accounting standards
Job Type & Schedule
Full-time, permanent position
40 hours per week
Monday to Friday ( and weekends as needed)
Compensation
$16–$20 per hour, depending on education and experience
Performance-based increases as skills and responsibilities grow
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or currently in progress)
Recent graduates and junior candidates are encouraged to apply
Interest in pursuing CPA or other accounting designation is an asset
Skills & Requirements
Basic understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles
Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines
Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a team environment

This position reports to the Branch Manager, Edmonton Office, and is designed to develop foundational skills in public practice accounting while supporting client bookkeeping and financial reporting needs.
