Job description, work day and responsibilities
GFL is looking for a Treasury Analyst to join our Treasury team based out of our Vaughan corporate office! This is a critical support function that requires exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of hands-on experience with financial assurance, banking and legal documents, and complex legal entity structures. This role will liaise directly with internal operations teams and GFL’s banking partners and brokers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and a growing company!
Key Responsibilities:
Support in maintaining the current portfolio of financial assurance (performance bonds & letters of credit) and understanding of key terms and requirements
Work with internal partners and surety brokers to process requests for financial assurance documents (performance & bid bonds, letters of credit, continuation certificates, name change riders, etc.)
Proactively managing financial assurances to ensure timely cancelation and renewal
Support and track documentation requirements for high volume acquisition and integration activities relating to financial assurance
Support the treasury team for monthly and quarter-end reporting as required
Assist in maintaining strong relationships with banking partners and payment service providers
Perform reviews and analysis of usual banking transaction costs (bank fees, recurring and ad hoc charges, etc.) and identify opportunities/efficiencies where possible
Assist in facilitating online bill payments and wire transfer requests
Process daily payment exception items
Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within treasury operations
Support process improvements and other initiatives within the overall Treasury & Shared Services teams
Support internal and external audit requirements
Other ad-hoc responsibilities to support day-to-day Treasury operations, as required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
3-5 years of hands-on experience with banking
Familiarity with North American financial institutions and banking structure, including experience with online business banking platforms
Understanding of legal entity structure preferred but not required
Post M&A integration experience preferred but not required
Sharp problem-solving skills and eager to drive changes
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Ability to collaborate with other business units within a large organization
