About The Opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, hands-on Controller for our UK Entities. The successful candidate will oversee the UK accounting team and be responsible for financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls along with GAAP requirements. As a leader of the team, you will provide direction and oversight for accounting and month end activities, working closely with counterparts within the Business Unit to ensure strong alignment to business strategies and financial processes.
Responsibilities
• Overseeing preparation of the Financial Statements on a monthly basis inline with UK GAAP.
• Hands on involvement in the month end process to assist the team in meeting deadlines.
• Balance sheet ownership for the entities, ensuring the Account Reconciliation Policy is adhered to.
• Ownership of tight Financial Controls ensuring processes are robust and continuously improved to be compliant and support the growth of the future business.
• Management of the Accounting Team to provide leadership and direction to ensure they are engaged, focused and developed in delivering their potential.
• Overseeing cashflow for the entities and liaising with group as necessary.
• Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
• Liaising with Auditors (both internal and external) and Tax advisors as necessary.
• Working in partnership with key stakeholders in the business, both internal and external. Our Global business unit is located in
• Adhoc projects as required working with other departments in the Business both Globally and Locally.
• Contribute to the development of the company strategy across all areas of the business challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate.
• Presentation of Financial results to the Senior Management Team and the wider Business.
• Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system for the Entities.
• Liaising with US Global team.
In Addition To The Functional Responsibilities Of The Role, As a Driscoll’s People Manager, You Are Responsible For The Employee Lifecycle, Including:
• Workforce Planning: Aligning the people plan to the business plan
• Hiring: Find, evaluate, and hire new team members
• Onboarding: Integrating new employees into the organization
• Managing: Organize and coordinate activities of a team in order to achieve defined strategic objectives
• Development: Partnering with your employees to create a plan to grow in their existing or potential future roles
• Employee Safety: Ensure both physical and psychological safety in the workplace
• Off-boarding: Ending an employment relationship
Candidate Profile
Academic Degree:
Education, Knowledge and Experience required for the role
• Qualified Accountant holding a recognised accreditation – ACA, ACCA or CIMA for more than 3 years.
Professional Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a similar role preferably in the Fresh Produce or FMCG sector.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP
• Knowledge of US GAAP and IFS an advantage
Areas Of Experience:
• Ability to relate to key client personnel in a professional and credible fashion.
• Implementation of a new ERP system preferable
• Use of Oracle an advantage but not required
• Ability to work under pressure, multi task and meet tight deadlines
• Managing and leading a team of 3 reports or more
Certifications And Technical Skills:
Add level of expertise Basic/Intermediate/Advanced/Expert
• Advanced excel skills
Experience Managing People (years):
• 3 years + of managing a team of 3 people or more
Other:
• Willingness to travel abroad but this will be on an adhoc basis.
