Responsibilities
The Controller’s Office offers career ladders for many of our positions which allow tenured employees promotional opportunities within their job. The successful candidate will be hired at the most appropriate level of University Asset Accountant level I through IV, based on education and experience.
This position is responsible for overseeing the University’s annual physical inventory, comparing the inventory results with the property records, reconciling all discrepancies, reviewing and approving all capital property dispositions, and ensuring University department’s property roles are filled and that the individuals in these roles are properly trained.
Key Responsibilities:
Applying knowledge to ensure university compliance with, and advise departmental staff on federal and state laws and regulations and university policy regarding property. Organize the annual physical property inventory schedules and disseminate the annual schedules with beginning capital assets lists.
Coordinate and schedule the regular, periodic review of all decentralized inventory departments. Create the annual inventory review schedule that ensures all departments performing their own inventory are reviewed by Controller’s Office personnel on a regular basis.
Manage asset dispositions; review, analyze, and approve Asset Management forms including Capital Accountability Release and Inventory Shortage.
Prepare inventory review samples, ensuring a statistically significant sample size and that all missing items and any items that were not scanned in the most recent inventory cycle are reviewed. Monitor the performance of the reviews and review results; follow up with departments, as necessary.
Manage the asset accounting tree in OMNI AM; perform monthly reconciliation to ensure departments are added to the various nodes and all property roles are up to date.
Perform monthly analytical reviews to ensure that assets that have been tagged have been placed into service, that all necessary asset fields have been completed in the accounting system, and all off-site assets have appropriate approval.
Serves as Controller’s Office liaison with Facilities Fleet Management to ensure new vehicles are registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Assist other University Asset Accountant with review of requisition lines coded to OCO or over the capitalization threshold, ensuring university compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to capital asset acquisition.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field; or a high school diploma/equivalent and four years of similar experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)
Level I – Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field; OR a combination of post-high school, relevant education and accounting, finance, or similar experience equal to 4 years.
Level II – Level I requirements plus an additional 2 years of relevant experience OR a master’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field. FSU Financial Representative Certificate and FSU Customer Service Certificate preferred.
Level III – Level II requirements plus an additional 2 years of relevant experience.
Level IV – Level III requirements plus an additional 2 years of relevant experience.
Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
Knowledge of the processes involved with inventory management and control.

Anticipated Salary Range
The salary for this position ranges from $47,500–$65,772, based on education and years of experience.
