Job Description
The Vice President of Business Development reports to the Chief Sales Officer (CSO), with a dotted line to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for driving net-new revenue through the acquisition of new clients by leading the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through contract execution. This role focuses on building executive-level relationships during the sales process, identifying and closing new business opportunities, and positioning Sanderson Firm’s services as strategic MSP compliance solutions.
Following contract execution, the Vice President of Business Development partners with the National Account Manager to ensure a seamless transition from sale to implementation and may provide strategic support as needed while transitioning out of day-to-day client management. Ongoing account ownership, expansion, and growth are the responsibility of the National Account Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Relationship Management:
Build executive-level relationships through the initial sales cycle and partner with the National Account Manager to ensure a smooth transition once the account is sold.
New Business Development:
Identify, pursue, and close new business with prospective clients; following contract execution, partner with the National Account Manager as needed to support implementation and strategic alignment while transitioning out of day-to-day client involvement.
Account Planning:
Develop strategic sales plans for targeted prospects to drive initial contract execution; ongoing account growth is owned by the National Account Manager.
Sales Forecasting and Pipeline Management:
Maintain accurate Salesforce pipeline, deal strategy, and revenue forecasting for new business opportunities.
Revenue Goals:
Meet or exceed assigned net-new revenue targets focused solely on new logo acquisition.
Customer Retention:
Support retention by ensuring expectations, scope, and implementation readiness are clearly established prior to transition to the National Account Manager.
Market Analysis:
Monitor regulatory trends, competitor activity, and industry changes to identify new sales opportunities.
Proposal Development:
Lead development of proposals, pricing, and executive presentations required to close new business, including requesting and coordinating internal sales presentations when needed to support the sales cycle.
Internal Collaboration:
Working closely with other departments like account management, marketing, product development, and customer service to deliver seamless customer experience.
Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership to support business development and firm-wide objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 1-3 years of Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance experience preferred.
Knowledge of Medicare Secondary Payer terminology preferred.
Knowledge of Workers Compensation, No-Fault, and Liability Insurance preferred.
Associate degree is preferred, and 1-3 years of relevant experience in customer service and/or administrative role.
Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills.
Ability to work remotely in a productive and efficient manner.
Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe PDF.
Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively. and asking questions where clarification is needed.
Ability to follow instructions and respond to managements’ directions accurately.
Must possess excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
Must be able to work independently, prioritize work activities. and use time efficiently.
