As a Web Engineer, you'll play a vital role in developing and maintaining our Wattpad website and application. We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in the development and maintenance of our web applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of front-end technologies and a passion for building innovative and user-friendly web applications.
Please note this is a 14-month fixed term employment contract position.
What you'll be doing:
Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other engineers to bring web features from concept to production
Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and responsive front-end code
Implement and optimize front-end performance, including load times, responsiveness, and accessibility
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile development environment
Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends and technologies
Work across functional teams to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end systems
What we're looking for:
You have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a frontend engineer
You possess strong proficiency in front-end software development tools and technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript
You have experience building modern web applications in React and Node.js
You enjoy working with a team, but have no problem working independently
You have passion for building innovative, engaging and accessible web applications
Bonus points for:
Experience with server side rendering (SSR )javascript frameworks such as Remix and Next.js
Experience migrating legacy code bases to modern tech stacks
Experience with frontend CI/CD pipelines and automation
