Job Summary:
The Team Leader/Assistant Manager for Home Health and Hospice Revenue Cycle Management is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire revenue cycle process for US healthcare. This role includes managing coding, billing, claims, collections, and payment posting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and payer policies. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in home health and hospice revenue cycle operations, lead a team to meet performance goals, and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and revenue optimization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Supervision:
Manage RCM Team: Oversee a multidisciplinary team, including coders, billers, and AR specialists, ensuring they meet performance goals.
Team Scheduling: Manage the scheduling of staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of revenue cycle tasks.
Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and setting goals for improvement and professional development.
2. Revenue Cycle Oversight:
End-to-End Management: Oversee the complete revenue cycle process, including patient registration, insurance verification, coding, claims submission, payment posting, and denial management.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations specific to home health and hospice.
Claims Management: Monitor claims for accuracy and follow up on denied or underpaid claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.
3. Coding & Documentation Quality Assurance:
Accurate Coding: Ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10 codes for home health and hospice services based on medical documentation.
OASIS Review: Oversee accurate coding of Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) data, essential for patient care assessment and Medicare reimbursement.
Audit Documentation: Conduct regular audits of patient charts and revenue cycle processes to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
4. Operational Efficiency:
Workflow Optimization: Streamline revenue cycle workflows to enhance productivity, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure timely billing and collections.
Manage Deadlines: Ensure all revenue cycle tasks are completed within required timeframes to facilitate timely billing and cash flow.
5. Process Improvement:
Assessment: Continuously assess and refine revenue cycle processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Leadership in Projects: Take the lead on initiatives aimed at improving overall revenue cycle performance, team productivity, or regulatory compliance.
6. Problem-Solving & Decision Making:
Address Complex Issues: Resolve complex scenarios, including payer disputes, ambiguous coding cases, and high-denial claims.
Support Team: Act as the primary resource for team members, providing guidance on challenging revenue cycle cases.
7. Ongoing Education:
Training Programs: Ensure the team is continually educated on updates to coding systems (ICD-10, OASIS), payer-specific rules, and changes in home health and hospice regulations.
Knowledge Sharing: Conduct regular training sessions to improve team skills and ensure regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, HIM, finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in revenue cycle management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven expertise in home health and hospice RCM operations, including billing, coding, and denial management.
Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations.
