Work from home, UK client, Full-time, PHP Developer position
This role is for a substantial, fast-growing and well respected UK IT company who has hired us to exclusively recruit for them. It is a permanent Work From Home position and everyday you’ll be working directly as part of their UK team. It is a senior role with real opportunities to learn and develop.

Location: Permanent Remote Work from Home in India
Experience: Minimum 5 years PHP experience
Shift Timings: 12pm - +:30pm (Summer), 1pm - 10:30pm (Winter)
Roles and responsibilities
• Write new web-scrapes to capture data from websites
• Fix web-scrapes when they break, for example due to website changes
• Improve web-scrapes for better performance, higher reliability and accuracy
• Analyse data from web-scrapes to ensure that it is complete and accurate
• Collaborate in a team of web-scraping engineers, product managers and Data Quality Analysts to ensure “360° quality” in the data we scrape and manage.
Required skills and experience
• PHP - 5 years
• Knowledge and an interest in Web scraping - you must be able to speak intellectually on web scraping. You do not need experience but must have an interest.
• Really good communication and interpersonal skills. Doing this job well requires close collaboration with Data Quality Analysts, and it’s vital that web-scraping engineers have very strong abilities (a) in understanding issues raised by the DQAs, and (b) in communicating and explaining issues, asking follow-up questions in a precise and clear manner.
• An ability to understand complex data-sets and data requirements. Our data collection requirements are complex, and a successful Web Scraping Engineer will need the ability to quickly grasp the underlying logic behind these requirements.
• Comfortable working with websites in many different languages. Beyond having fluent and clear English, we don’t require our engineers to speak many different languages — but they must be able to work with websites in any European or east-Asian language using common sense and Google translate.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• A strong understanding of and experience in online retail (e-commerce) is quite important in this role.
• Experience in scraping data from smartphone apps is a plus, but not 100% essential.
• Knowledge of using proxies, IP-switching services, etc., in a web-scraping context is also helpful.
• Web scraping (3 years)- A strong PHP developer with an interest in web scraping should be able to pick up the web-scraping fundamentals quickly.
