Wärtsilä Parts & Field Service is now looking for an enthusiastic Workshop Supervisor to join our skilled team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

What will you be doing?

This position is based on site at our Workshop in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and reports to the Workshop Manager.

Candidates are expected to display a high level of critical thinking and reasoning skills, identify as high performers, as well as being self-motivating.

Accountabilities:

As a Workshop Supervisor, you will be overseeing the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring it is properly staffed, equipped, and maintained to meet production goals and quality standards. You will foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement, while ensuring the workshop adheres to strict safety protocols and implements measures to continuously improve safety records and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate operative daily service activities on the floor. Keeping the workflow moving with safety, well-being, and continuous improvement mindset. Maintaining safe work environment is the top priority.
Performance evaluations and development discussions, including target settings and individual development planning.
Daily morning meetings and Toolbox talks. Ensures that work is assigned to technicians in an equal and fair manner.
Make sure the workshop staff have all the relevant bulletins/instructions/manuals before the job starts.
Provides technical support for technicians when necessary.
Checks progress of each work order throughout the day.
Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts checks throughout the job execution with responsibility for thoroughness and quality.
Assist with SWR backlog and timely submission of SWR by WS staff.
Accounts for all documents; ensures that none are missing, and all are processed correctly. That includes not only the order related documents, but also signing off daily/weekly/monthly/periodic check lists for cranes, forklifts, and other WS/facility equipment in the WS etc..
Monitors shop condition, including cleanliness, safety, and the condition of shop equipment. Reports problems to the workshop manager
Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools which are in WS custody.
Plan short term capacity and maintenance of the machines and tools together with Quality Supervisor.
Keep the Workshop Manager informed of any issues well in time.
Motivate the workshop team to finish jobs on time with optimized labour hours (productivity and efficiency).
Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments.

Main Requirements:

Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Business Management) or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in workshop management, preferably in a heavy equipment industry.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a workshop environment.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer literacy.
