The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District ******* and Other Drugs service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or ******* use, including information and support for families.
Our service offers specialist drug and ******* doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Drug and ******* Clinician to deliver frontline drug and ******* services to young people across our community.
Working within a dynamic multidisciplinary and multi-agency framework, you will collaborate closely with internal Drug and ******* teams and NBMLHD services, as well as key partners including the Department of Human Services, Department of Education, General Practitioners, Department of Justice, and residential treatment providers.
This role will provide counselling and case management tailored to young people experiencing drug and ******* challenges. The position also involves facilitating referrals to appropriate support services, contributing to and co-facilitating group programs, and supporting both mainstream drug and ******* and youth sector staff in responding to youth-specific issues. You will also play an important role in advancing education and health promotion initiatives and strengthening partnerships across the Local Health District.

What you will bring to the role
Counsellor: Bachelor, Master or Doctorate Degree in Counselling with current listing on ARCAP (Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and current membership of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) OR Social Worker: Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
Demonstrated understanding of the issues and difficulties faced by young people presenting with Drug and ******* problems and previous clinical experience working in a counselling environment.
Demonstrated experience in providing evidence-based assessment, psychosocial interventions, case management and individual/ group counselling interventions for young people with drug and ******* problems.
Demonstrated partnership building and negotiation skills with a wide range of service providers and well developed understanding of the interface between services.
Evidence of an advanced level of verbal/written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to apply these skills within a Youth Drug and ******* Service setting
Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a medically led multidisciplinary team.
Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from Aboriginal backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.
Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
