Tūranga is an award-winning metropolitan library, combining modern architecture, cutting-edge technology, world-class customer experiences and community spaces. The Hapori team includes specialist Youth and Childrens Librarians, meeting the needs of customers from across the city and beyond, and supporting services throughout Turanga and the wider Christchurch City Libraries network.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei
This role is based on the vibrant Hapori/Community floor, which offers a family friendly environment with a wide range of interactive opportunities and collections for young people. In this dynamic position you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional library services and experiences, including:
Provide outstanding customer service by proactively identifying needs and recommending resources, both face to face and online
Develop, promote, and deliver a variety of programmes and services that reflect and celebrate our diverse youth communities
Support the training and development of colleagues, sharing your knowledge and expertise
Build relationships with local high schools and with youth organisations across the city
Work alongside your team to manage, refresh and champion a dynamic young adult collection.

Qualifications and experience requirements:
Relevant Level 5 qualification with a minimum of 4 years’ library experience; or
Relevant Level 6 qualification with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant library experience
Knowledge and understanding of youth librarianship
Experience in collection management
Experience in planning and programming

Hours of work - Wednesday: 9:00am – 5:30pm, Thursday: 9:00am – 5:30pm, Friday: 11:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday: 9:15am – 5:15pm
Position - Part-time, permanent
Location - This position is primarily based at Tūranga Central Library, 60 Cathedral Square
Salary - The hourly rate for this position goes from $35.77 - $39.74 per hour. Starting rates will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
