Brimbank is continuously growing, with many transformational infrastructure projects about to break ground. A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

We are currently seeking a Part Time Fixed Term staff member to join our team based at the Bowery Theatre and St Albans Community Centre.


The role

Reporting to the Youth Arts and Events Officer, we are seeking Youth Programs Officer who can bring their skills and experience to:

Create leadership and co-design opportunities for young people by facilitating committees and ongoing meaningful consultation to meet the needs and creative aspirations of young people;
Support the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of arts and cultural programs and events in order to develop career-focused skills, build social and professional networks and contribute to the wellbeing of young people;
Partner across Council, with schools, arts and youth-centred organisations to run joint initiatives with a range of stakeholders, supporting a coordinated approach to the delivery and promotion of arts and culture initiatives in and around Brimbank.

Key Selection Criteria

To be considered for the role you are required to address the following Key Selection Criteria in your Cover Letter:
Ability to work in accordance with our values and behaviours.
Demonstrated experience in engaging, supporting and advocating for young people across the broader community to develop arts and cultural skills, build social and professional networks and pathways, and contribute to their wellbeing.
Demonstrated experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of arts and cultural programs and events, including co-design with young people, project planning, and the use of evaluation to inform continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, build and sustain effective partnerships with artists, youth services and community stakeholders to deliver collaborative programs and achieve shared outcomes.
Demonstrated experience of outreach, engagement and working with young people from diverse communities, with a strong understanding of barriers to participation, and the ability to apply inclusive, accessible and culturally safe approaches in program design and delivery.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within organisational frameworks, including policies and procedures, while managing projects and meeting deadlines.
