We are seeking a fulltime tutor for our Christchurch Campus. This is a Monday to Friday role, 8am-4.30pm.
Applicants need to have a passion for working with young people. You will be working alongside an automotive mechanic, to delivery training to young people, to help them achieve NCEA level 2, and learn about the automotive trades.
You need to have experience teaching numeracy and literacy skills, and have strategies to motivate disengaged learners.
Knowledge of the automotive trades is preferred, but not essential.
We are looking for someone with:
A NZQF qualification at level 2 or higher (preferably in the area of Foundation Skills, Study and Employment Skills, supporting learners with learning difficulties, or teaching)
Preferably have some teaching experience in a NZ school or PTE context
Preferably hold the NZ2754 New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education., or at least be prepared to complete it once employed
Digital literacy skills
Understanding of teaching pedagogy
Experience working with young people with learning difficulties or in a supported learning environment
Experience working with early school leavers
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Passion and energy for teaching and training others
Unit Standard 4098, and a tertiary teaching certificate (level 4 or 5) (or be willing to complete these courses)
Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold a current NZ work permit.
