Position Summary

FNMI Group Care is seeking compassionate and culturally grounded individuals to join our team as Youth Wellness Support Workers. This role supports Indigenous youth through trauma-informed care, cultural teachings, and relationship-based healing practices.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental well-being of children and youth in care.

Key Responsibilities

Build trust and develop meaningful, respectful relationships with youth
Provide daily care, supervision, and emotional support for children and youth
Promote Indigenous cultural practices such as smudging, ceremony, language, and land-based activities
Teach life and social skills through role modeling, routine, and accountability
Facilitate conflict resolution, de-escalation, and safety planning
Assist youth in developing problem-solving skills and emotional regulation
Plan and lead recreational, educational, cultural, and therapeutic activities
Maintain accurate records and documentation in alignment with Children’s Services standards
Collaborate with elders, cultural advisors, caseworkers, and multidisciplinary team members
Participate in ongoing training related to trauma-informed care, Indigenous wellness, and cultural safety
Remain calm, patient, and responsive in high-stress or crisis situations
Qualifications & Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Recent (within 6 months) clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
Recent (within 6 months) Child and Family Services Intervention Record Check
Experience working with youth, preferably in an Indigenous or community-based setting: 1 year (required)
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and practices (including Cree, First Nations, Métis, or Inuit communities) is considered an asset
Ability to support and engage youth in culturally relevant practices and teachings is strongly preferred

Work Environment & Scheduling

This is a 24-hour care environment. Shifts include days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Flexible scheduling across day, evening, overnight, and casual shifts is available based on operational needs.
