About Driving Creek

Driving Creek is seeking enthusiastic outdoor focused people to join our team as a Zipline Guide in both permanent and seasonal roles.

Driving Creek is a leading tourism organisation and renown pottery that began as a grass-roots pottery in 1973, and organically became one of the most popular tourist destinations in The Coromandel. We offer immersive visitor experiences within a beautiful native forest that includes New Zealand’s only mountain railway tour, an eight zipline canopy tour, and pottery classes and workshops.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we protect and enhance our native environment through impactful conservation programmes, and enrich the artistic community by offering free artist residencies to inspire shared learning and support for the artistic community.

About the job

The Zipline Guide role is an important position in the operation of our highly rated tourism activities. In this role you will be responsible for safely leading tour groups through the native forest, traversing eight ziplines and delivering an authentic narrative about conservation and the history of Coromandel, while providing exceptional customer experience. With your guiding partner, you will lead groups of up to 10 customers on a 2.5 hour zipline adventure.

The Zipline Guide pay rate is $27.50 to $28.50 per hour with a guarantee of 30 hours being offered per week but can be more depending on seasonal demand.

About you

We're seeking a highly organised, proactive, and energetic natural leader who is also a charismatic storyteller with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in adventure tourism or simply a passion for the outdoors, along with a good level of fitness and a strong understanding of New Zealand's biodiversity and history is ideal. Most importantly, we're looking for a professional and passionate outdoor enthusiast with an engaging personality.

Our Offer

In addition to being a welcoming and supportive workplace, we provide a range of valuable benefits to enhance your experience. Our offerings include generous discount for our pottery store, and free activities and pottery workshops for you, and your family and friends.

We also promote work-life balance and provide opportunities for unpaid leave in addition to your annual leave entitlement. From your very first day, you'll have access to 5 days of sick leave to ensure your well-being. At Driving Creek, we are committed to creating a fulfilling and enriching work environment for our team members.

When you start

Your first three weeks will involve intensive training to teach you the technical skills and knowledge required to competently and confidently deliver a premium eco-tourism activity to our visitors. We are also able to help with any accommodation needs for people relocating.
