Competitive Training Salary $42,+43.00 - $6+,686.00 - pa plus superannuation and leave loading.
12-week placement (with potential for extension).

This is an Aboriginal Identified Recruitment under Part 5, clause 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014. Legal Aid NSW considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1+77 (NSW).


We are seeking Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people for this program as Identified Roles enhance cultural competency within our organisation and they leverage cultural knowledge and community experience to better serve Aboriginal communities.


We are proud to have more Aboriginal solicitors than any legal practice in NSW and our aim is that 11% of all staff will be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.

The Aboriginal Legal Career Pathways is an award-winning program that offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with an opportunity to increase their knowledge base through tertiary and higher education and obtain employment in the legal industry.

Program Highlights:

As a participant, you'll receive nationally recognised training in legal services at TAFE NSW. Plus, you'll gain hands-on experience with a 12-week placement (with potential for extension) as a Trainee Administration Officer at Legal Aid NSW.


As a Trainee Administration Officer, you will:

Provide administrative support within a legal environment.

Assist Legal and Client Support Officers, Paralegals, and Legal Officers.

Contribute to the efficient delivery of legal services to clients of Legal Aid NSW.


Work Location Details for Trainees:

As a trainee, you'll have the opportunity to work at one of our Legal Aid NSW offices. Here's how it works:

Sydney Metropolitan Area: If you live in the Sydney metro area, you'll be based at our Central Sydney office in Haymarket.

Regional Areas: If you're from a regional area, you'll work at the office closest to you.
