Job Description for Accountant
Position: Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports to: General Manager/Finance Head
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
Manage general ledger accounts and reconcile discrepancies.
Prepare and record journal entries for adjustments.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
Reconcile vendor and customer accounts.
Payroll Processing
Coordinate with HR to process monthly payroll.
Ensure compliance with statutory deductions like TDS, PF, and ESIC.
Generate payroll-related reports for management.
Tax Compliance
Prepare and file GST returns, TDS, and other statutory reports.
Assist in income tax assessments and audits.
Ensure timely payment of taxes and statutory dues.
Banking & Cash Management
Handle daily banking transactions and maintain records.
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
Manage petty cash and ensure proper documentation.
Financial Reporting
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Generate financial reports for management decision-making.
Provide budgetary analysis and variance reports.
Audits & Internal Controls
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure compliance.
Other Duties
Assist in cost control and analysis of expenses.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/ICWA/CPA preferred but not mandatory).
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Office, especially Excel.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
Location: Company headquarters or designated office location.
Working Hours: As per company policy.
Salary: Based on qualifications and experience.
