Assistant Accountant
Reports To: Accountant/Finance Manager
Department: Finance/Accounting

Job Summary
The Assistant Accountant supports the finance department by performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks. This role ensures the accuracy of financial records, assists in preparing reports, and contributes to maintaining the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid foundation in accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Data Entry:
Record daily financial transactions accurately into accounting software.
Maintain and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts regularly.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and management reports.
Generate and review monthly/quarterly reports.
Invoicing and Payments:
Prepare, send, and follow up on invoices.
Process payments and expense claims.
Compliance:
Assist with tax filings, audits, and statutory reporting.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Administrative Support:
Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
Support the Accountant/Finance Manager with ad hoc projects and administrative tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) are an advantage.
Experience:
Previous experience in an accounting or finance role preferred.
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Competencies
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Strong organizational skills and time management.
Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
