Summary
We are looking for a meticulous and driven Accountant to join the Finance team at the Akash Homes Head Office in Edmonton, Alberta.

You will manage all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. What You’ll Work On
Continuous Improvement:
Review and recommend improvements to current accounting processes.
Lead the implementation of new accounting ERP systems in conjunction with purchasing and scheduling software.
Develop, implement, and manage user access and internal controls.
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare monthly reconciliations and supporting working papers.
Analyze and report on work in progress, G&A expenses, and other financial metrics.
Provide vital information to management for decision-making.
Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
Prepare cost accounting margin reports, job cost reports, and other ad hoc reports.
Contribute to timely month-end and year-end close processes.
Reconcile subledger to general ledger accounts and perform intercompany reconciliations.
Collaboration and Leadership:
Collaborate with the operations team on cost verification and monthly reporting.
Work with leadership on cash flow projections and financial analysis.
Support cost accounting and budgeting efforts.
Manage the PO process and outline procedures for efficient payment processing.
Mentor junior accounting staff and oversee bookkeepers.
Compliance and Controls:
Maintain accurate financial records and the general ledger.
Stay updated on financial practices, trends, regulatory changes, and economic factors.
Maintain the chart of accounts and support external accountants during reviews.
Assist with payroll processes and understand income tax and GST regulations.
What You’ll Bring
Previous experience in a financial accounting role, preferably in the construction or real estate industry.
Experience with Sage (Simply) Accounting software.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Proven track record in project cost accounting and reporting.
Excellent interpersonal skills, a self-starter, and driver of change.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
