Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely tax reporting for financial reporting purposes, including month end and year tax journals
Assist in preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and BAS / IAS for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and superannuation funds
Assist in the review of monthly and quarterly indirect tax returns for various entities
Liaising with the ATO & ASIC on client matters
Undertaking Land Tax compliance and researching and implementing strategies to reduce land tax and / or apply for relevant exemptions
Respond to tax questions from clients and provide tax support to teams within the business as needed
Provide research assistance to the team to deliver taxation advice
Assist on other non-tax related matters as requested by your manager
Essential:
A relevant degree qualification in Accounting/Commerce
CA or CPA qualified (or working towards this qualification)
At least 2 years experience in similar role on public practice around the Australian Tax System and Business Services
Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MYOB/XERO
A professional and personable manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Ability to work quickly and accurately to deadlines
Ability to work autonomously
Ideal Candidate:
Strong technical accounting and taxation skills and experience working with SME'S is an advantage
High level knowledge of Australian tax legislation is an advantage
Motivated with a high level of self-initiative and passion to learn about tax
Work independently and within a team environment
Takes on working in a team comfortably, but have the confidence to allow others to take the lead to achieve the desired outcome
