Job Description: Accountant
Position Overview: The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of financial tasks, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, and maintaining the integrity of financial data. They play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of an organization and provide valuable insights to management for informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Records Management: Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Record financial transactions accurately and promptly, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and schedules.
Financial Analysis and Reporting: Conduct financial analysis, highlighting trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Generate financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns (income tax, sales tax, etc.) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assist in tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's tax position.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure adherence.
Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and assist in the completion of internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls.
Identify and resolve discrepancies or irregularities in financial records.
Financial Systems and Software: Utilize accounting software and systems to process transactions and generate reports.
Recommend improvements to financial systems and contribute to their implementation.
Train and support staff members on the effective use of financial software.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, operations, and management, to gather financial information and provide insights.
Communicate financial results, analysis, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties regarding financial matters.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus.
Proven experience working as an Accountant or in a similar role.
Proficiency in Accounting software like TAlly ERP + or TAlly Prime.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Proficiency in financial software and advanced MS Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
