Position Overview: The Experienced Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for overseeing various aspects of financial management and reporting. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Experienced Accountant will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial data, assist in financial analysis, and support the organization's overall financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and adjustments.
Assist in the preparation of regulatory and compliance reporting requirements.
General Ledger Management:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
Review and analyze account balances to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as needed.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of annual operating budgets and forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment of financial goals with operational objectives.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and financial modeling.
Identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks based on financial data and analysis.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management as requested.
Audit and Compliance:
Assist in the preparation for and coordination of external audits, including gathering supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial reporting.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance department.
Recommend and implement enhancements to accounting processes, systems, and procedures.
Provide training and support to staff on accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments, including finance, operations, and management, to support business initiatives and resolve financial issues.
Serve as a resource for financial guidance and support to non-financial stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification preferred.
3+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar systems preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
