Required (Minimum)
Associate’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent number of years of experience
Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of products: Excel, Word, and Outlook
Previous experience with Great Plains, Momentus, ABI & ADP
Previous experience with a hotel, sports team, and/or convention center

Responsibilities
Position Overview: Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of the full cycle of Accounts Receivable and the creation of financial records for the Wisconsin Center District (WCD)
The Accountant is responsible for the accounts receivable process including billing clients, maintaining the aging report, collection, and deposits
The Accountant will assist with month end close process and the annual audit
The Accountant works to ensure the WCD’s finance team upholds consistently excellent standards of accounting
Generate, obtain approval, and send invoices to clients after events are held in WCD facilities
Monitor outstanding AR balances, send out past due statements, and make collection calls as needed
Resolve issues associated with ACH reversals, stop payments, refunds, voids, and adjustments
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, negotiate, document, and arrange payment schedules; document collection statuses using the WCD’s collection system and accurately posts all client payments
Post daily cash receipts to appropriate accounts for WCD
Performs day to day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording AR data into Great Plains
Post exhibitor booth orders and record credit card receipts in Great Plains
Review exhibitor aging monthly
Assists with year-end close including year-end audit; ensures processes and financial record keeping is in compliance with accounting standards
Works cross-collaboratively with the WCD’s sales, box office, and retail store teams to resolve billing, ticket sales, and cash receipt posting issues
Continually reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Reconciles AR ledger to ensure that all invoices & payments have been accounted for a properly
Verifies discrepancies and resolves client’s billing issues
Provides backup support to other groups in the finance department (accounts payable, payroll, etc…)
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by management to ensure the effective utilization of WCD’s resources and to ensure customer satisfaction
