Your Job Role – Accountant
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our wonderful service charge accounting team here at OR. Any previous service charge accounting experience is a bonus, however this is not essential, as there is a committed and friendly team willing to provide training to an individual that instead has some previous accounting experience but is willing to embrace a new path in service charge accounts.
The opportunity would be suited to an individual who is a team player, has good attention to detail and is meticulous in their work.
Responsibilities:
You will become part of our dynamic service charge team and have the responsibility of preparing service charge accounts for properties on behalf of national managing agents, landlords, and residents management companies who are our valued clients. We will also expect our new team member to provide an effective service on all compliance and advisory matters.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
Preparing service charge accounts from varying formats of accounting information
Performing and checking year-end adjustments
Preparing and processing audit plannings where necessary
Reviewing service charge accounts – sometimes these require auditing
Understanding the industry specific legislation that impacts the preparation of service charge accounts and their presentation
Reviewing leases for properties and advising clients
Reconciling handovers of properties between managing agents
Communicating daily and building good relationships with the clients
Replying to any queries and information requests the clients may have in a timely manner
Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and delegated financial responsibilities
Day to day administration in relation to billing and keeping systems updated
Requirements
Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is essential
Strong desire to further your career in service charge accounting
Analytical skills
Excellent time management skills
A high level of attention to detail and accuracy and a methodical approach to tasks
Sound IT skills and good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly excel
An individual who can work well as part of a team
Accounting qualifications: minimum AAT or studying
