Responsibilities
Hospital Accountant 1 is responsible for the maintenance and analysis of fiscal records
Employees in this classification maintain the fiscal records of an operating department or assist higher level accountants with more complex accounting functions and problems, applying professional accounting principles and methods to a variety of accounting problems
Supervision may be exercised over subordinate clerical personnel
Work requires independent judgment on technical accounting problems, but account classifications and operational standards are determined by departmental regulations or by statutory requirements
Work is reviewed by a superior upon completion for overall standard of performance, or is subject to periodic audit
Responsible for monthly and year-end accounting close
Prepares monthly and quarterly expenditure / financial reports for all funding sources and provide explanation of budget vacancies
Assist Grant Department during budget preparations and negotiation periods;
amendments, proposals, revisions
Prepares periodic fiscal statements and reports for distribution
Plans, assigns and supervises the work of subordinate employees
Responsible for reimbursing the Public Health Trust for services rendered
Maintains payroll schedule for all Network employees
Reviews journal vouchers and general ledger transactions journals to ensure their accuracy and takes necessary action to correct any errors
Responsible for conducting annual financial audits of each subcontractor that provides services for the Network
Assists independent auditors during single unit
Ensures financial operation of the network
Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise)
Performs other related duties as assigned
