Qualifications
A 12-month probationary period is required
This position will be expected to work in office at least 2 days per week
Completed a four-year or advanced degree with a major in Accounting from an accredited college/university; or commensurate work or professional experience
Financial reporting experience related to GAAP, such as analyzing accounts, financial statement review, financial report reconciliation, and accounting information systems, etc
Reviewing policies and procedures related to financial or accounting processes (e.g., documenting, implementing, developing, or similar)
Experience planning and performing formal audit testing of accounting information and internal controls (e.g., payables, receivables, journal entries, etc.)
In Addition, a Well-qualified Applicant May Have Experience In
Implementation of new accounting standards, such as GASB or FASB standards
Experience preparing or reviewing Single Audit Reports

Benefits
This position is in schedule-range (07-02 – Advanced) with a salary between $84,406.40 and $+5,++2
In addition, up to $1.00 per hour CPA add-on may be available depending on qualifications
Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan
Additionally, this position is eligible for a full State benefits package
Responsibilities
This is an Advanced Accountant position that will work collaboratively with the Audit Services and Financial Reporting Sections in the State Controller’s Office
This position will perform internal audits (operational and compliance) of all state agencies and will perform audit-related activities on a continuous basis to monitor agency compliance with statewide accounting and financial management policies and procedures
This position will assist in the review of state agencies’ SEFA submissions and will perform a variety of annual and special projects
This position will also perform work related to the conversion of the State’s statutory basis of financial reporting to a Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) basis of financial reporting
The position will initiate, develop, and recommend accounting policies and procedures necessary to convert the State’s budgetary based financial information to a governmental GAAP basis as reported in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
Emphasis on technical issues affecting PeopleSoft Enterprise Resource Planning information system, specialized activities, transactions, and funds with a statewide impact
The position may also be responsible for researching accounting pronouncements promulgated by authoritative sources to ensure statewide accounting policies
