We’re looking for an Accounting Executive to join our team at Veryon! As an Accounting Executive you will be responsible for playing a large part of the preparation of month end accounts for Chennai, India as well as ad-hoc accounting tasks for the Global entities.
You will also have a hand in assisting in Account Payables during busy periods and for holiday cover. You will also have experience in Indian tax filings for the company as well as liaise with the auditor during the annual financial statements audit process.
What You’ll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives
Objective 1 : Within your first 30 days, you will understand the month end process of compiling Chennai month end accounts;
understand the processes involved from beginning to end of SAP Concur AP expenses and invoices from receipt of costs to final settlement of costs.
• Train on NetSuite and familiarize with the accounting software package
• Be able to post journal entries onto the software confidently
• Be largely involved in the closing month end process for Chennai accounts and understand the steps involved to completion
• Train to be a user of SAP concur and follow through a complete cycle from receipt of invoice or expense to payment / settlement.
Objective 2 : Within your first 3 months, you will be confident in finishing Chennai monthly accounts for submission to Accounting Heads with little guidance required.
You will be familiar with the company and deadlines required for Accounting. You will be responsible for maintaining deadlines for any taxation filings required.
You will also help to complete other accounting working papers for the wider Veryon companies outside Chennai.
• Be a confident user of NetSuite and be able to run various reports to check for costs being posted to correct GL codes.
• Training for other ad-hoc month end working papers as guided by Heads of Accounting.
• Taking care of Top-Up card analysis and managing the costs therein
Objective 3 : Over the next 6 months, you will be a position to be confident in looking to where we can be more efficient within accounting and managing your own workload with little guidance required from Accounting Heads, in order to complete Working Papers.
• Learn about other accounting papers like Intangibles, lease accounting, security deposits.
• Have a thorough understanding of how NetSuite works and be confident enough to be produce a variety of posting journal entries.
• Be able to suggest areas where we can improve on efficiencies within the process of closing month-end accounting, and offer support in other areas like bank reconciliations.
Who We’re Looking For The Personal Competencies That Matter
Veryon are looking for a candidate with 4-6 years of experience having working in an accounting department, and with valuable experience of month-end accounting.
Use of NetSuite accounting software is preferred but not a prerequisite. The candidate should have good excel skills, great attention to detail, and be able to converse in English to a good standard.
Ideally, the candidate should also have experience in dealing with Indian tax and tax filings. Lastly, we would prefer if the candidate had some experience in year-end audit procedures as well.
Detail-Oriented : The Accounting Exec will be responsible ensuring that Chennai month end accounts work is prioritized for accounting deadlines, and be able to assist in AP department during the busy period of month end.
They can retain information and focus closely on each task at hand to ensure the utmost efficiency. This person has an eagerness to maintain accuracy while effectively prioritizing .
Time Management : The role will be responsible for maintaining their own assigned tasks and completed to a good standard and delivered on time.
They must excel at planning, and updating all records on or before deadlines. This person will have excellent time management skills.
They will do exceptionally well at prioritizing their schedule to make sure that the team wins as a whole and be prepared to help in other accounting areas when the needs arises.
Interpersonal Skills : Success in this role requires excellent analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail. You must thrive in working in a fast-paced environment and have a proven history of delivering to meet accounting deadlines.
A successful candidate is a team player who has a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency for their work.
