This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Program Support Center, headquartered in Rockville, Maryland.

Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A or B):

A. Possess a four year degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (Must provide transcripts)
B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
• Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
• A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
• Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. Minimum Qualifications:

For GS-07: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-5 level in the Federal service performing the following duties listed below:
• Performing routine accounting tasks such as review and payment of vendor invoices, reconciliations, or maintaining debt accounts.
• Analyzing financial management information and reports.
• Assisting with routine problems involving accounting procedures or systems.
OR

Havecompleted one (1) full academic year of graduate level education in accounting; or related disciplines appropriate to the position as business administration, finance, or public administration;

OR

Have Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) Provision as listed below and completion of a bachelor's degree in accounting or auditing; or related disciplines appropriate to the position;

OR

Have a combination of experience as described in "A" above and graduate education as described in "B" above.

For GS-0+: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-7 level in the Federal service performing the following duties listed below:
• Assisting with accounting and audit reviews of financial programs;
• Assisting with oversight tasks related to financial execution and administration within accounting systems;
• Generating and analyzing financial management information and reports.
OR

Have at least two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered an academic year of graduate study.

OR

Have a combination of experience as described in "A" above and graduate education as described in "B" above.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.

- Veterans who were unable to apply within two (2) years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, may be extended up to six years.
