Purpose of the Role/Role Overview:
The Accounting Assistant will work in close proximity with the Company’s Accounting Team and CEO by performing a variety of general accounting functions.
General Duties / Key Responsibilities:
§ Prepare Client / Vendor Invoices and Purchase Orders
§ Monitor and maintain account payable and receivable financial records
§ Enter financial transactions into the company’s accounting software
§ General Ledger Accounting
§ Maintain Balance Sheets, Cashflow Statements and Financial Reporting
§ Create and update Expense Reports
§ Evaluate, organize, and file accounting documents
§ Variance analysis and resolution
§ Prepare bank deposits
§ Create and run requested financial reports
§ Assist Accounts with audits, forecasts and other financial information and planning
§ Gather/generate information for CPA for annual tax returns
§ Monthly reconciliations of bank statements and credit card statements
§ Work with cross-functional teams to fulfill ad-hoc requests
Required Job Qualifications:
§ A minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience
§ Experience with various types of accounting software
§ Must have a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and account payable/receivable principles
§ Experience with creating and using financial statements, working knowledge of balance sheets, cashflow statements and P&L statements
§ Strong data entry skills along with a knack or numbers
§ Must have proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
Required Training/Licenses/Certifications:
§ High School Diploma or equivalent
§ Accounting or Finance degree preferred
Required Technical Experience:
§ Proficient with Microsoft Office products and routine office equipment
§ Proficient with Accounting Software
§ Previous experience with Sage accounting software highly desired
Required Soft Skills
§ Self-Starter
§ Advanced Written and Verbal Communication Skills
§ Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision or as a part of a team
§ Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
§ Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, detail-oriented work environment
§ Comfortable handling confidential information
