Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accounting Manager with a strong background in commercial real estate and leasing, as well as proficiency in Yardi software. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions related to our real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient management of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for various commercial properties.
Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Property Accounting
Oversee all property accounting activities, including rent roll maintenance, lease administration, and tenant billing.
Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure timely collection and payment.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies related to property transactions.
Leasing & Revenue Management
Collaborate with the leasing team to ensure accurate recording of lease agreements and related financial transactions.
Track and report on lease expirations, renewals, and tenant improvement costs.
Analyze and report on rental income, operating expenses, and financial performance of properties.
Yardi Software Management
Utilize Yardi software for property management, accounting, and financial reporting.
Implement and optimize Yardi modules and features to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve Yardi system issues, and liaise with Yardi support as needed.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging professional growth and development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in commercial real estate accounting and leasing.
Proficiency in Yardi software is required; experience with Yardi modules related to property management and financial reporting is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles, lease structures, and property management processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with various stakeholders including property managers, tenants, and senior management.
