About this work area

As Accounting & Reporting Specialist your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with New Zealand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Supporting the Financial Controller with audit preparation, including audit schedules, supporting documentation, and auditor queries.
Responsibility for timely and accurate month-end reporting, including preparation, review, and posting of journals with appropriate documentation and approvals.
Preparation and maintenance of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Supporting and maintaining internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial governance requirements.
Assisting with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis as required.
Who you are

Ingka Investments Management NZ is looking for an Accounting & Reporting Specialist to join our Forestland team here in Aotearoa New Zealand. The role is based in Tauranga and supports our local forestry operations, as well as the reporting needs across our national forest portfolio.

In this role, you’ll help deliver clear, accurate financial information and analysis that supports day‑to‑day decisions within the New Zealand Forestland business. You’ll be working alongside a small, supportive team and contributing to a growing operational environment.

You’ll bring a strong understanding of New Zealand company obligations—covering GAAP, tax, and statistical reporting—as well as governance and compliance. Your background includes at least five years’ experience in accounting or finance with a minimum of two years spent in the forestry sector.

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have:
Strong understanding of forestry operations and processes in New Zealand.
Strong financial management and accounting experience with an understanding of New Zealand impact of company legal (GAAP, Tax, statistical) obligations, governance and compliance.
Excellent reporting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven capability in data analysis, and turning data into clear, meaningful insights.
Experience working with financial and reporting systems that support robust data management and analysis.
Responsible accounting and/or auditing experience in similar or larger organisations.
