Job Description
The legal administrative assistant will provide administrative support to all team members. The main responsibilities as the legal administrative assistant include, but are not limited to the following:
Opening and closing client files;
Manage multi-line phone system;
Organizing and maintaining client files;
Maintaining a well-organized and up-to-date office calendar;
Photocopying, printing and scanning documents;
Organizing incoming and outgoing mail;
Preparing materials to be filed with the courts;
Managing and meeting deadlines;
Communicating with clients, Crown, Clerks, RCMP, Legal Aid, etc.
Drafting correspondence and documents;
Basic accounting; and,
Performing receptionist, administrative, and general office duties.
Qualifications:
Excellent command of the English language (grammar, spelling, punctuation);
Strong communication skills;
Strong multi-tasking and time management skills;
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to read, identify and allocate documents;
Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook;
Ability to effectively prioritize workflow in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
Ability to prioritize and organize;
Being capable of meeting deadlines; and,
Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Education / Experience:
Post-secondary education / Legal Administrative Assistant certificate (preferred); and,
Previous experience in a receptionist/clerical position is an asset but not required.
Schedule:
Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (Monday to Friday);
Office is located in downtown Grande Prairie.
