The Jamie Larcombe Centre is a Veterans' mental health precinct located at the Glenside Health Service Campus, providing mental health and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder services to Veterans.
The Administrative Officer provides an effective, efficient and confidential reception and clerical support service to the Jamie Larcombe Centre. Duties include administration support to the Head of Unit, typing confidential medical and administrative correspondence, booking and coordinating patient appointments, maintaining the Patient Information System, and ensuring patient case notes are appropriately maintained as well as other general clerical duties.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Regional Administrative Manager and the Regional Administrative Officer, as the Administrative Officer duties for this role may include:
Providing an informative, prompt and confidential reception/administration service for all clients, including telephone bookings for appointments and general enquiries
Using the hospital based computer system to book patient appointment requests received by telephone or GP referral request form including the registering of new patients, and updating of existing patient information
Ensuring all test results and other documentation are filed appropriately in case notes
Undertaking Medicare and DVA billing
Coordinating discharges by liaising with other establishments, ascertaining/booking transport requirements, notifying relatives and ensuring appropriate discharge documentation accompanies patients
About you:
Effective verbal and written communications skills suitable for liaison with public and staff within a multi-disciplinary workplace
Ability to cope with a high volume of work, prioritise workloads and meet timeframes
Previous reception or general office experience within a hospital environment
Demonstrated experience in the use Microsoft software applications e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook
Previous experience using a computerised administrative and booking system
