Advanced Senior Accountant (growth to Manager quickly!)
Birmingham, Alabama
$75,000 - $+5,000
Our client is looking for a professional who thrives in a dynamic, established company and enjoys the challenges of understanding business needs and acting on them. This role plays a lead role in the financial reporting process and is responsible for partnering with the Business Unit Finance Leads for projection, budget, and business combination integration activities. This role will have the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of current procedures and establish new accounting processes. Additionally, this role will be on the front lines of compliance by ensuring the integrity of accounting transactions through financial analysis and reconciliation review.
Principal Job Activities:
• Organize and perform the monthly close activities and coordinate that process with other involved departments. Prepare journal entries and review of journal entries prepared and recorded by team members. Manage the documentation and review and recording of all recurring journal entries, static or otherwise.
• Assist management with annual budget preparation and financial analysis.
• Prepare and review account analyses, internal financial statements and supporting work papers for accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
• Interact and effectively execute all assigned duties with various levels of management and personnel.
• Monitor/oversee internal controls and compliance with external regulations.
• Provide highly complex Financial Reporting review and guidance.
• Review complex account reconciliations and ensure they accurately reflect the account’s balance.
• Assist with preparation of analyses for annual audit including communication with outside auditors.
• Identify and communicate status of ongoing accounting issues and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with preference given to those who hold the CPA certification
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in public accounting or corporate financial reporting
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Strong analytical abilities, particularly with financial statements and operational performance
• Strong computer skills
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
