With a strong pipeline of projects and recent project awards, Civmec are expanding our internal HR/IR team to support continued growth and success across our operations.
We have multiple opportunities for experienced HR/IR Advisors and Senior HR/IR Advisors to join our dynamic team, supporting the day-day-day delivery of projects across the Perth Metro area and from our Henderson corporate office.
These roles are highly operational and project‑focused, suited to HR/IR practitioners who thrive in contractor environments and enjoy being embedded with project teams from mobilisation through to completion.
Reporting to the HR/IR Manager, you will partner closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Payroll and Recruitment to establish and manage the industrial and employment framework for each project, while also providing hands‑on ER/IR support throughout delivery.
The Role
Project & Industrial Relations Focus
Establish and maintain project‑specific IR frameworks, including:
Terms and conditions of employment
Letters of offer, contracts of employment and rate sheets
Alignment to applicable Awards, Agreements and client requirements
Provide day‑to‑day advice to project teams on conditions of employment, entitlements, classifications and pay structures
Coordinate closely with Payroll and Recruitment at project inception to ensure correct setup and compliance prior to mobilisation
Manage and administer internal Change of Conditions (COC) processes across projects
Support obligations under ERMP commitments, including Indigenous workforce requirements and subcontractor ER/IR risk management
Interface with unions as required, including right of entry compliance and liaison with site leadership and clients

Industrial Relations & ER Advisory
Provide practical ER/IR advice to managers and employees across live projects
Case‑manage employee relations matters, including:
Performance management and probation review
Investigations, disciplinary processes and demobilisation planning
Preparation of written warnings and outcomes
Support or represent the business in Fair Work Commission matters where required (desirable but not essential)
Assist with enterprise agreement interpretation and, where applicable, bargaining or variations (experience highly regarded)
Operational HR Support
Maintain accurate employee data in SuccessFactors
Support workforce movements between projects, including contract variations and changes to conditions
Contribute to continuous improvement of HR/IR systems, templates, policies and processes
Build strong, trusted relationships with project teams through regular site engagement
Provide practical HR/IR training and coaching to managers and project teams as required, aligned to project and operational needs.

About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
Proven experience in an HR/IR role within a contractor, construction, mining, engineering or project‑based environment
Strong working knowledge of:
Australian employment legislation
Awards, Agreements and project-specific terms and conditions
Confidence providing practical, commercially‑minded advice to operational leaders
The ability to manage ER matters end‑to‑end in a fast‑paced, high‑change environment
Senior HR/IR Advisor applicants will lead complex ER/IR matters across major project portfolios, acting as the primary HR/IR contact for assigned projects. The role includes coaching and developing junior HR team members, leading investigations and representations, and overseeing subcontractor ER/IR risk management.
Exposure to enterprise bargaining and Fair Work Commission matters or industrial disputes is advantageous but not mandatory.
